- Generally Chris doesn't like explaining their songs to leave room for interpretation by the listener, but for this song he is giving one bit of direction... "To avoid any confusion I will say that Bald Massey is a song written for and to a person who will never hear the song... Bob Dylan. Dylan is, in my opinion, the greatest singer/songwriter I've ever heard, and in the same way that Dylan wrote some of his early songs to his influences we are following in that pattern. The reason why I explain this is to keep people from thinking that this song is about the ANY.Band as the lyrics interpreted that way could make us seem pretty pompous" - Chris Flanigan
- Bald Massey got it's title before we had written any lyrics for the song and we decided to keep it even after we had written the song. It is named for a pastor at Alliance Bible Fellowship named Glen Massey who one day decided he wanted to shave his very pastory hair completely off... hence becoming Bald Massey.
- The lyrics for this song came from the same place that the band's live album Live: Expectations came from.
- "The groove of this song really came out of nowhere. The drums, guitar, and bass all found such tight parts. I get chills every time I listen to it" - Chris Flanigan
- The only part of the song that remains from the original jam/instrumental is the walk down. The exception to this is that the walk down intro was an octave higher when we first wrote the song.
- The structure of the solos at the end is heavily influenced by the lyrics of the song.

Lyrics
Verse 1 Expectation is your killing word Jubilation with sounds that sound absurd You get your kicks Pickin' at my soul Please try to quit Pleasin' gets too old...
Verse 2 There's a man who Takes apart his shoe And he stands With feet on top of you "Replace your tongue" "You should patch that hole" Criticize them and tear out their soul
Chorus And they all laugh at the blood on the page And recall that the fool on the stage Is a very simple man And he's leading a shoeless band And he don't fret the assumptions
Verse 3 Bobby goes Where nobody knows And he tips his cap To the chifforobe Speaks his mind to the deaf and the blind and it was only for a woman he would sing refined
